Agreement on International Goods Transport by Rail (SMGS) has changed since 1 July 2015, as a result of which the western and eastern transport law became closer to each other. The changes have been legislated in Hungary.
According to the new terms, Rail Cargo Hungaria Zrt has revised and renewed its transport agreement with the Ukranian Railways regarding international cross-border transportation (occasionally across the Hungarian-Ukranian border), in force since 2010. Based on the negotiations since May, the Parties agreed at the beginning of September regarding cross-border technology, wagon repair fees, clearance order and data exchange terms. The agreement was signed by Dr. Imre Kovács, Chairman of the Board of Directors, CEO and Nathan Zielke, CFO on behalf of Rail Cargo Hungaria Zrt and Zsurakovszkij Vitalij Deputy Chief Executive Officer on behalf of the Ukrzaliznica.
This agreement made the conditions of cooperation more transparent and the traffic in the international transport system more simple. In the first half of 2015 Rail Cargo Hungaria handed over 46 thousand wagons at the Hungarian-Ukranian borders, which is about 90% of the whole handed over wagon quantity.
